The striae as they are called are a classic symptom but not everyone with Cushing's get them. I got them.
They really need to test all your hormones - it sounds like you need a neuro-endo!
Ahh see that scares me that I will lose mine and it is not even the problem. I have been studying pituitary issues, and really my issues started with breast milk production! I also just seen something about stretch marks. I have HORRIBLE purple stretch marks all over. In fact my doctor commented on them when I was pregnant because he had never seen such bad ones. Doesn't everyone get these though, or most people? I have them on my arms and knees too. I wrote my doc an email explaining all this and he hasn't wrote me back ugh.
They did the same to me - I had Cushing's though - blamed the thyroid etc. and I lost mine due to the same, although I temporarily felt better since mine was diseased.
Look up on some of the sites and contact the people as they can direct you on other tests as well.
Thank you both. Rupled- I have never had anything pituitary related tested. My old endo, was the WORST. He never did anything at all and the new one is okay, but he is just recommending having my thyroid out. I still believe I need some more testing, because everything is not consistent with me. Thanks for the input. I'm gonna bring these issues up with my fam doc and the surgeon and see if one of them might be able to help me. I will mention the tests you said.
A change in height and the bone issues - why has the doctor not investigated acromegaly? have you had IGF-1 and GH tested? Any pituitary MRIs done or other testing done besides the dexa testing?
Your symptoms are pretty consistent with acromegaly - and while you may have a thyroid problem as well, I think, as a layman, your main issue is growth hormone.
