The best I was able find is an endocrine center. I met the doctor there and I feel that she's quite good. She said that the tests I made were not complete and she ordered more blood test for me. I just received some of the results and prolacting is now down to 14.9. the stange thing is that cortisol was 21.5 and the normal range is up to 6.5. The doctor told me that we can't depend on this result and we have to make a 24 hours urine test and an AM blood test to be sure and accurate. I asked the doctor what if it's actually high and if the cause is indeed high ACTH she said that it's very rare for a macroadenoma to secrete both prolactin and ACTH and ACTH secreting adenoma are usually micro but if that's the case then surgery is the only option. so I 'll be making the tests on Saturday and to be honest I am a little scared.
Try larger hospitals and university center hospitals.
Even here in the US, it is not common to find so many pituitary centers, but you can find a specialist at larger hospitals in larger endocrine centers.
It may require travel. Many of us do... sadly.
Than you very much for your help.
Yes I was referred to an eye doctor for a field of vision test and she told me that it was normal and that the tumor is currently not affecting it at all.
I do have a copy of the report but it's quite difficult to find a pituitary specialist in the country I'm currently living at (United Arab Emirates), I tried searching for one but I don't think they have one there.
Your hormones can normalize.
This does take time. Some people get a fast reaction, some take time - so there is no fast and hard rule on the time it takes. There is no answer. You have to stay on the meds, and you have to have regular monitoring.
Your tumor is trending on the larger side, so I would if I were you see a pituitary specialist for your monitoring. I would also get a copy of the report and see how your tumor sits - that can be very important if it does not react to the meds (about 10% of the time that happens) and you need surgery.
Have you also been referred to an eye doctor too?
