Um, I can get a good brand of DHEA in a regular drugstore for a lot less than that... it is an OTC med (in the US, the UK regulates it)...
With coupons, I spend oh, around $15 for about 100 pills (100 day supply...). My endo is fine with this (he wants me to take it since I have no adrenals).
Hi,
I will have to get back to you on the name of the herb, I'm starting to have a bad feeling about this doctor.
Since my son doesn't have any insurance, we are going to apply for charity care, a friend recommended that we do that, and she gave me the name of a good Neuro doc.
The doctor that we are seeing now, treats with herbs and vitamins. I took my youngest son to him, because he has chronic Lyme. The doctor did some tests on him, and his yeast level came back very high. So, the doc put him on some vitamins and herbs, and now he is vomiting from them.
I have low DHEA levels, and other conditions. The doc put me on a ton of Vitamins and herbs, which cost me over $500.00!
In all, for the 3 of us, it cost me almost $900.00!
I have insurance, so I think that I am going to go to an Endocrinologist.
My youngest son is on Medicaid, so it is hard to find a doctor for him.
I'm just so disgusted!!!
Thanks for all of your help. I will get back to you, with a list of the herbs and vitamins, I'm just to tired tonight.
I don't know of an "herb" that brings cortisol levels down. There are several medications now that are being used. Some have been out for a while, some are newer. However, when you are on them, you must replace cortisol or at least be mindful of the symptoms of adrenal crisis as well, it can be life threatening. The medications must also be monitored as they can have effects on other organs like the liver or kidneys so you have to take frequent blood tests to make sure everything is functioning well. The meds are usually taken short term before surgery for symptomatic relief or long term with a lot of monitoring for as long as the body can tolerate them.
What is the name of the medication?
