The neuro should then try you on meds/botox (botox may be out if the eye is involved - my ENT shot me up with a shorter acting shot to see if it would work but my eye was effected so I could not use it), consider surgery for the cyst.
With that MRI, frankly, you *may* have some issues if the doc is not super good - so prepare that you may have to get records and hunt. Always great when you feel like not hunting.
I would suggest that you press to ask the docs to treat the source and not symptomatically, but they me more likely to do the latter - easier. The meds have some not fun side effects - which is why it is best to go source (cyst) - take someone with you who will be persistent on your side but not tick off the doc.
Thank you for your reply. An ENT is who orig diagnosed me. He is referring me to the neurologist. Im not really sure what Im in for. Most of the things I read said they will watch it unless it is causing problems. And it is!! I am so tired of being nauseated, light headed and my face feels like I have the worse sinus headache you could ever have. I even get a burning sensation on my right top side of my head several times a day.
The 7th nerve is in the face - if that is effected, one usually gets trigeminal neuralgia. I think so they are looking at the nerves for that reason. However, since you have the severe facial pain (which is usually trigeminal neuralgia) you may need to get another look at what is going on - maybe an EMG or something to see if the nerves are ok because if you have pain and the eye is impacted etc. sounds like the nerve is impacted.
So the cyst may be pressing somewhere.
Usually cysts are removed by draining (not recommended unless inaccessible) or part or all of the lining is removed so that it cannot recur. They may be able to use meds, botox or removal of the cyst to get relief as far as I know. I have TN - I had to experiment with meds.
I would also think about consulting an ENT as they deal with that type of nerve pain as well.
