injury induced brain tumor?

My friend has been suffering from headaches for a couple days now along with sharp pains in various parts of her body. I took her to the doctor today and he told her that it could be a brian tumor forming from the injuries she suffered as a 2 year old from her abusive father's beatings. Her mom suffered from beatings as well and it seems she suffers from brain tumors as a result. He gave her medicine for the pain and told her if it didnt clear up within 10 days she would have to go in for x-rays. She has been getting checkups for this sort of thing since after the beatings stopped and keeps a close eye on it, but now due to the consultation of her doctor(who isn't all that great a doctor I might add) she is convinced she has a brain   tumor forming and is terrified as am I. Iv'e been trying to do some independent research but their is no mention of "injury enduced" cancers. Can anyone shed some light on this for me? Is this a common accurance? Could her doctor's diagnosis be at all correct? I greatly appreciate anyones input into this.

Why does she keep you everyone the dark?

Passing out can be a lot of things like autonomic, blood sugar, dehydration, ...

If the doc did not admit her, he did not find anything immediate.

hello rumpled. Hope all is well. So far my friend has had a consultation with a neurologist and after running a test(not sure what kind)the results were inconclusive and he recomended she go back for more in a couple weeks. I'm getting really scared because her headaches seem to be getting worse and now she complains of sensitivity to noise and light. Just the other day she passed out and went to the hospital. She goes to the doctor but doesn't tell me whats going on. She keeps me and her family in the dark about her health. She holds off going to get checked out and get treated because she doesn't have insurance and says she will get around to going for more tests. I keep telling her she can't hold this off much longer and she needs to let people be there for her. I'm scared and have no Idea what to do to help her

We will most definetly do so. My friend told her mom about her symptoms, and her mom said those were the same symptoms she had when she was diagnosed with her brain tumor. her headaches are getting worse even tho shes taking diazepam which is supposed to help with headaches worse then migraines so I'm starting to get a little more worried. I'm kind of upset with her because she said her headaches have been getting progressively worse for the past couple months and she said she didnt think to speak up about it

Once you get a better doctor, I suggest reporting the other doctor to the medical boards so that other patients are not treated with such lack of care. BTW, x-rays are not the imaging of choice for soft tissue - as in brain - they look at bone! So why is the doc ordering x-ray! If he was really, really worried about a malignant brain tumor the doc would order a CT or MRI.
Please try to get her to another doctor now - skip the useless x-ray and the radiation, and get to a competent doctor.

Thank you so much for your insight rumpled. I keep telling her to see someone who specializes in this to get a better prognosis on this, and she will ,but she is scared out of her mind and is convinced this is something malignant. Shes going to get some x-rays done on tuesday so hopefully by then she gets a better understanding of her situation. Once more thank you again for your input.

I am only a layman - and you can post a question in the expert forum to ask the question to a doctor.

I think the reason you cannot find it is that cancer does happen from trauma - but scar tissue can form. Depending on where the scar tissue forms, that can cause issues, but it would not be cancer - as in, it would not spread.  I don't think the doctor was being rationale - if she had something from that far back, it would have already been full blown and 10 days would mean nothing.

Please find another doctor and get someone else to do an exam.
