prolactinoma tumor

Hello, I had a partial hysterectomy done 13 years ago and have had green discharge from my breast for the past 12 years or so, I told my Dr. about it recently, he had some blood work done, including my prolactine tested. I even had a mammogram done, everything came out normal. Can I still have a prolactinoma tumor even if my prolactine  levels were normal? I do get headaches alot and sometimes clear drainage from my sinuses. Thank you.

I am not a breast expert but I think a local infection like that can stay local. I would see an expert.
Pituitary experts are sometimes hard to find - don't just settle for any endo - make sure you go to a larger hospital with a pituitary center and be prepared with research so you know if you got a decent doctor (not all are) so you know if you need to pack up and go elsewhere or if you are you are where you need to be. There are links in the health pages (below to right) that have information and some have doctors lists.

If it was an infection in the ducts, wouldn't I have gotten sick along time ago, seeing its been going on for several years now?

I will be seeing my Dr. Wednesday of next week, he is my gynecologist, I am sure he will refer me to a specialist, I will make sure I get copies of my blood work and mammogram. Thank you, I will let you know as soon as I find out what the deal is.

Is your treating doctor a neuro-endo at a pituitary center, or a different type of doctor?
If not a neuro-endo, please find one - and if one, find another one. You may need more extensive testing aka testing ALL the pituitary and other hormones such as the entire androgens as well as seeing a breast specialist just to be prudent.

As for your question - yes, you can have a prolactinoma with normal prolactin levels but it is not typical. I had such a case. Other hormones can cause breast discharge but it is not usually green. Mammo's are great - but sometimes can miss things so it may be prudent to consult a doctor anyway just to find out why you have the discharge for so long and why the color - it can be an infection in the ducts.

Do get copies of all your tests and imaging reports - it helps.
