symptoms of brain cancer

This is just a forum where i would like those who had or have brain tumor/cancer. i just want if people dont mind to tell me abit about some of the symptoms they had, and what made you want to go to the doctors, and were your resultz expected.

I really hope this doeznt offend any one as it is not meant to. it iz only for my own clarification, and i want to see wether the symptoms they write on the internet are true.

There are many different types of radiation - and people react differently based on current health, the type of tumor, how it will react to radiation, the size of the tumor and all...

Have they spoken to you at all about the optic nerve? I would, If I were you, ask about the optic nerve and how they plan to protect it from the radiation - or have you already lost sight in that eye?

You may be given steroids to reduce inflammation - those meds have side effects as well.

dr. took my tumor out in '06. They said there was nothing to be done.

the end of last year my daughter ask me to have another MRI done to see what it was doing. I did the MRI and it has grown 30%.

Now they want to do radiation on tumor behind the left eye, it makes the eye buldge out, yucky..... I start radiation in 2 days

What am I to do,  how does the radiation make you feel?

I have a brain tumor. It was discovered after a car accident where I experienced head trauma. I wasn't hurt (head wise) air bags were deployed but about 2 days after accident I started having visual effects. I would turn my head and when I turned it back is was as if my eyes didn't return to position fast enough. About a week later I was driving and all the leaves on the trees looked like alumimium foil with a green tint. Of course I went to the eye Dr. who examined me and told me it was a concussion caused by the accident. But it just didn't sit well with me. I went to my family Dr. who ordered a MRI of the head and neck and there it was. It was a Meningioma It is a benign tumor that I probably had for many years as they are slow growing. I went to a neurosurgeon and was told it was in a touchy spot, very close to my optic nerve, also was encasing my rt carotid artery. He did surgery but could only remove very little but removed enough so that I could have Gamma Knife radiosurgery.  That's something like radiation but only a one time thing. I am fine now except for a dent in my forehead and some numb spots on my head. The GK is to stop any further growth.which it has so far. I had that done in 07. But it was all very frightening discovering out of the blue that you have a brain tumor and then having brain surgery for 7 hrs and then still another procedure (GK). I get yearly MRI's which I suppose I will get for the rest of my life. I am 58yrs old.

Have you had cancer - if so, what type and stage? That may help people respond more.
