3rd Re-excision possible
I have had lumpectomy and tomorrow my 2nd re-excision and surgeion then says mastectomy - why? anyone have 3rd reexcision for DCIS.. have large breast.
I'd rather be done with the whole mess, myself. I had great cosmetic results, and far fewer worries.
After a 2nd re-excision a mastectomy is usually recommended. I'm sure there are women who have had more than 2 re-excisions but having that many surgeries with the possibility of still not obtaining clean margins it isn't the wisest of decisions and often the scarring of the breast is considerable.
