Advice for unexplainable breast bruise and lump

I am a 30 year old female and yesterday evening I found a bruising on my right breast above my nipple, it is longer than wide and tender.  Upon inspection I found a lump below the bruise and above the nipple, and now I am freaked out.  There is no cancer in my family and I don't know anyone to ask. The bruise is slightly tender and the lump very noticeable like it came from nowhere.
Any advice?

The bruise is still dark and seems to be spreading toward my nipple, and the lump is still there, no pain, but I can see it slightly protruding when I look in the mirror. I can see it and touch it, and it feels so "there", and there is no injury to explain this, and I have made an apt with a doc but now am sitting on the internet worried and stressed trying to convince myself that 8 times out of 10 it is nothing.

If you have had some injury to the breast, and this could be a bump that you might not even remember, then this may be just a simple bruise which will go away in a few days. If it doesn't go away then I suggest that you see your personal Physician for a breast exam and possibly an Ultrasound to determine the cause of the bruise. Having a lump along with a bruise isn't at all unusual; the bruise and lump both would be the result of bleeding in the tissues beneath the skin just like a bruise on any other part of your body.   Regards ...
