21 Year Old..Breast Lump..Need Help

Hi..my name is Megan I'm 21 years old..I went to my doctor a few weeks ago, cause I've had this lump in my left breast..I always used to think there might be something there..but over the past few months I KNEW there was something there, it began to even bother me when I moved my arm in certain positions. I also noticed the surface by my nipple felt different..kind of dimply..but was not really noticeable..but just feels different than my right breast.  The day of the doctor visit my doctor had me leave his office to go have an ultrasound done..well after that they decided to have a mammogram done also.  So after a few days my doctor called and told me to come pick up my ultrasound and mammogram pictures for when I go to my surgeons office.  The lump looked huge on both! It made me a bit nervous..the report said it was 3cm7mm. To get to the point my surgeon that I seen..was short and rude and kept saying I was too young to have cancer and he didn't recommend a biopsy but my doctor and doctor that did ultrasound did recommend one plus there was alot of shadowing on both..and said that he he PRETTY SURE its a fibroadenoma...and to come back in six months.  I just wanted to know if that is normal? I keep coming across story after story of women my age who pretty much get told the same thing..and come to find out later that it was cancer.  I'm just worried..should I get a second opinion..cause I really want to.

Concerned,
Meg

Thanks for the reply..I appreciate it..I really hope it a fibroadenoma..I know they are common in women my age, I just would like a biopsy done to be sure..I believe thats what I am gonna try and do instead of waiting six months..it would just ease myu mind more.

Thank you
Meg

I don't know if it is normal, but I don't think a second opinion would be too much to ask. Although I have read that fibroadenomas are more common in women in your age group. I have just recently had an office exam, mammogram, ultrasound, and finally a biopsy. And at every step they told me they thought it was probably just a fibroadenoma too, but they got the biopsy to be sure.I 'm sorry your first surgion was so cold. I hope you get a second opinion and are able to put your mind at ease. Let us know how it turns out.
