Not cancer but needs to be watched. My breast surgeon recommended it be removed and since I had cancer on the other side and was having a mastectomy I choose to have a double so I would not have to worry about this again

NO, it is not cancer. This condition is often referred to as Pre-cancerous. The cells which are in a greater number or growth than would normally be expected are also not the typical type for that tissue. As a rule this condition is treated in several ways ... rarely by mastectomy !! Close follow-up, surgical excision of the area, some form of treatment after removal; either radiation and/or hormone therapy but only if the tissue shows a hormone positive response. I think it might be wise for you to see a Breast Specialist (not necessarily a surgeon) and have your films reviewed as well as the biopsy results. Regards ...
