You should keep in mind that these reports and the terms used in them are meant for other Physicians and most are "Radiologist-Speak" .... too much searching on the internet isn't usually helpful; the terms need to be associated with a person's particular situation and most searches will only give info in general terms. 8mm approx. 3 tenths of an inch and I know that when it's YOURS it always seems BIG :). Hope your biopsy goes well .... Take care
Thank you so much for your reply. I had a normal diagnostic mammogram but due to breast density and family history of breast cancer it was recommended to have MRI. After MRI, it was recommended to have an ultrasound and biopsy. I was confused by the term "rapid washout" and everything I read about that term on the internet kind of scared me. My other breast had nodules that were only 3mm and so 8mm seemed big to me.
I suppose the MRI was done because there was a question after other films were done. This report indicates that a nodule of quite small size was discovered by the study. I'm sure there may have been some recommendation as to what the next step will be. This should be discussed in detail with the Physician who ordered your films. At the end of most reports there is a note stating the significance of the finding as well as a recommendation for either treatment or any needed further investigation. Regards ..
