Diagnostic Tests

I just had a Mammogram done on Wednesday of this past week.  I received a certified letter yesterday stating that I need a bilateral sonogram done.  It did go on to say that most cases were cysts and were benign.  I am worried sick about this as I had LCIS 13 years ago.

I can definitely relate and understand your fears. I was diagnosed with LCIS last October.I agree waiting for test results after the mammos and MRIs I've had twice since then is very stressful. Cheerpul gave you some EXCELLENT advice and I hope you'll use it. Please try to stay positive and focus on getting a conclusive answer first. Take one day and one step at a time. There are wonderful women here who will support you and provide you with additional information any time you need it. Please keep us updated on your results.
I'm wishing you all the best and sending you a big hug (   ),

Try not to read more into this result than there is.  You should followup with the sonagram right away and talk with your physician about the results of the mammogram.  The sonogram may be all the further testing you need, or may still be inconclusive.  Your doctor may ask for an MRI or a biopsy.  Take each step at a time and focus on what you know from each test.  Try not to worry over "what-ifs."  Worry just wastes your time and energy.  Turn that energy into researching your tests and results and what is the next step, doing something that makes you feel good, working on projects and generally accomplishing things.

You may get good news that there is nothing to be concerned about or you may get less welcome news.  Either way, you get the information you need to take care yourself.  Waiting for tests and results is one of the worst parts of any health question.  Keep in touch and we will support you.  I am thinking of you.
