Discolored Breast

My right breast is discolored. It is light brown with pink spots/areas and then there is a very dark brown almost black looking spot about the size of a pencil eraser with another spot about the same size connected to it that is also dark brown but a lil lighter. I have a dr. apointment scheduled for tomorrow but was wondering if anyone could tell me what they think it is....Any advise or help is appreciated. Thanks

My Dr. referred me to a Dermatologist. I have an apointment scheduled for Nov. 3rd. How can I tell if it's only skin deep? It's not raised or anything but I can exactly see how "deep" it is...? Both breast and skin cancer run very heavily in my family so I'm a lil nervous. Can you tell me what the Dermatologist will do and how soon I should have an answer? Thanks for your help!

Hi.

If this lesion seems superficial and only skin deep, then it is most likely that this may be a localized skin condition such as an infection.  The most common infections of the skin that can present this way would be that of fungal infections.

If the discolored area would seem to be a lot deeper, then possibilities would include hematoma formation which are collections of blood clots underneath the skin.  Benign breast conditions such as fibrocystic diseases can also present this way.

Nevertheless, the causes are mostly benign but I would agree that you show this to your doctor.

Regards and God bless.
