Lump on USG

Recently found 0.7x0.6x0.5 cm mass on left breast.  Did biopsy, waiting results.  Just wondering, the MD described it as hypoechoic irregular solid mass.  The thought it was a cyst, but it was solid when he tried to aspirate it.  Anyone had any ideas if this could be benign or malignant?

Hi there,

I wish I could tell you from the description if it is or isn't cancer.  It is why they do biopsies -- because we can't tell by looking at them.  I'm just sorry you have this waiting period before you find out.  Take it a day at a time, ok?

Warmly,

Chris

Ok got results back:  Fibrocystic changes consisting of microcysts, fibrosis and focal florid hyperplasia.  Although diagnostic features of malignancy aren ot identified in this material, excision of this lesion for complete histologic evaluation is creommended.

I had the entire lump removed when they did the initial biopsy.   The doc office said it was benign.  Should i worry that the report said "focal florid hyperplasia"?  Isnt this a precursor to cancer?
