Hi.
You need to meet with the surgeon for a discussion about the informed consent process. This would ensure that you understand all the risks involved in the biopsy. The actual biopsy report will not be given automatically since the tissues would need about 24-48 hours of preparation. However, you may want to discuss with your surgeon about a frozen section procedure, where the pathologist will be right beside to interpret a sample of the tissue. However, the frozen section will just tell if the lesion is probably benign or malignant, and cannot tell the exact nature of the lesion (and we would have to wait for the formal histopath report for that).
Adenomas in the breast is not a pre-malignant lesion, and therefore unlikely to transform into cancer. If the biopsy would tell us other entities such as DCIS or hyperplasia with atypia, then a total excision is necessary.
As there are many things to talk about, all the more you need to have a discussion with your surgeon.
Regards and God bless.
