Multiple biopsy before bi lateral masectomy??

Hi Ladies:

I was diagnosed with DCIS on my left breast in 8/11.  The dr then ordered MRI to check the right breast. The right breast then showed highly suspicious enhancements so a diagnostic mammo was ordered and a ultrasound of the right. All came back as highly suspicious. Radiologist is requesting 3 stereotatic bx on right breast even tho i have decided on bi lateral masectomy.  Surgeon feels i have a 50/50 chance of right being malignant.  I still have not had any treatment on left other than excisional biopsy. MRI is showing additional DCIS they think still left on left breast. My original mass was found on May 2011.  I have been fighting my insurance to expidite my referrals since then.  I thought i could finally schedule surgury and just remove both breasts and they could biopsy breast at masectomy.  My surgeon is now insisting i get the 3 stereotatactal biopsys on right  breast on cluster calcifications. Apparently the whole breast has lots of calcifications but these 3 sites they are clustered. . He states he does not want to put me through setinal node dissection until he knows pathology on right. He has already committed to doing it on the left.  I feel doing these additional biopsys will just waste more time when they will biopsy at surgury. I feel either way with 3 suspicious findings they should check my lymph nodes.  The amount of time I have had to wait to be treated is just ridiculous.  Anyone else made to go thru additional biopsys?  Thanks so much for your help. This forum has been really helpful.

I notice you have posted before about what you have been going through since May.

We prefer that people keep their related posts in one thread, so that: 1) all of their information will be available in one place, which helps us to provide better answers; 2) we will be able to see the answers that have already been given, so we do not duplicate our efforts; and 3) readers interested in a particular thread will know when additional developments have been  discussed.

It would be helpful if you would copy your latest post, and in the future, add any additional questions or comments, to your previous thread. Thanks!
