Phyllode tumor benign

Hi there, I have just been diagnosed yesterday with a benign Phyllode tumor, my specialist seem confused as to what it was , as she thought after a biopsy it was a Fibroma , has anyone with these type of tumor have experience pain, because I have and that's why I had it removed otherwise it would have just remained in my breast as a Fibroma, Now my specialist says I have to have another surgery to remove more tissue and get a better margin, I am in chock still and so upset as to what this is? is it Cancer?

This discussion is related to Phyllodes tumor - why remove?.

No it isn't cancer .... but when these tumors are removed they need to be Completely removed and this is why the additional surgery to obtain clean margins. These tumors are not always removed but since you were experiencing pain I'm sure it was a wise decision. When only one tumor is found it is less likely to recur but that is always a possibility. It is true that Phyllodes can be either benign or malignant but you state yours is benign which certainly is a good thing.   Regards .....
