biopsy results

my bilateral needle localization excisional biopsies read "fibrocystic changes with microcalcifications".  Is this enough information?  Previous year's biopsies done at a different institution were way more descriptive describing the cells, mentioning sclerosing adenosis, etc.  But just to say fibrocystic change has me confused.  Please offer your thought.  Thanks

I agree with japdip that you need to get a full report from you surgeon. However, you should feel some relief that the biopsy result was benign. The microcalcifications were probably there because the fibrocystic changes were going on. Were they the reason a biopsy was recommended in the first place? Is short term follow up with mammo also recommended? This will indicate if the microcalcs were removed with the excised tissue or if some are still there. I had my third excisional biopsy in Oct. '09 and the follow up mammo in 4 months showed some of the microcalcs were still there. I've been having 6 month follow up since then to confirm they are stable and no longer clustered in a suspicious manner. (I also have a couple small benign looking masses that they're monitoring also.) Definitely discuss all this with your surgeon or primary care physician so you'll have complete peace of mind regarding your breast issues.
Wishing you all teh best,
nc

My thought is to contact your prescribing Physician and request a detaile explanation of the results from your Biopsies. I'm sure he/she can clear this up for you. That may have been a conclusion but there had to be more to the report than what you stated above.    Regards ....
