breast lump related to increased headaches?

I have a lump on my right breast and am being scheduled for both mammogram and ultrasound... I talked to the nurse yesterday and she said that my doc said that the lump could be connected to my increased headaches???  anyone out there have any idea why he'd think that???  I didn't talk to him but his nurse and we hung up before I realized that I didn't understand....thought I'd ask here while I wait for him to call me back and explain....let me know if anyone has heard this before?

Thanks!

I will try to decrease my caffeine and see what happens...also the lump isn't painful and doesn't hurt to touch...not moving in any certain way to avoid it...I'll keep you guys posted and if you think of anything else let me know!  and I'm not stressed...I'm too young for it to be anything worrisome!! keeping my chin up!

hi goodday, well I guess in a strange way it could be connected to your headaches.  It could be pressing on some nerves, it could be the way you are using your arm to avoid bumping the lump puts a strain on your neck or shoulder causing muscle knots to cause headaches, both of these are really remote, but it could be hormones causing the lump and hormones can cause headaches, or it could be worry about the lump, increased blood pressure from worrying causing the headache, or if the lump is infection, a fever could cause your head to hurt.  It is sort of an odd thing for the nurse to say but I guess if one of the above it could be a cause.  I would say the worry of the lump would cause a tension headache.

A possible connection that comes to mind would be if your doctor suspects the lump might  be a cyst. Cysts can enlarge related to caffeine consumption and hormonal fluctuations, both of which are headache triggers for some people.

You did the best thing, though, which is to request that the person who made the comment explain what was meant by it...

Best wishes,
