help, lymph nodes and breast lump.

I am a 22 year old female.  I gave birth to my daughter 2 months ago and I stopped breastfeeding a month ago.  I felt a lump in my right breast after a sudden rash all over my upper torso and fever like symptoms 2 weeks ago.  I went to the er, no explanation for the rash and was sent to have an ultrasound done on my right breast where I felt the lump.  I also told them about my bump in my armpit.  They felt it and said it was a swollen lymph node and dismissed it.  I got the ultrasound and they said it was negative, and yes it was lumpy, but so are the rest of my breast tissue.
They did it on the right breast.  Ever since then I have been experiencing headaches, a heavyness feeling in my breasts, pain in my arms, breasts, and armpit.  I feel like I'm losing my mind, I'm a nervous wreck and can barely function for my daughter.  I'm not sure if these symptoms started because I was constantly feeling my breasts and armpits for lumps, or if they are coming along with breast cancer.  I'm not sure if it's my anxiety or if I am suffering from something else.
Any answers or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Natasha, sorry you are having problems.  The ER is not the best place to get a proper diagnosis.  It would be very unusual for a 22 yr old to get breast cancer, but for your peace of mind, perhaps you could see a breast cancer specialist (surgeon preferably) and have him/her take a look and do a physical examination. Young women have very dense breasts which makes diagnosis from mammos and ultrasounds very difficult. The only way to definitively diagnose whether a lump is malignant is by having the lump biopsied and checked by a pathologist.

The headaches could be due to anxiety, but the lumps sound as if you need a second opinion.
Take care,
Liz.
