Hi ,I am not sure I understand your question; If your radiologist did a biopsy and found that underneath the lump lies some cancerous cells I would certainly opt to have it removed promptly, followed by whatever treatment will be given to you.Fibroadenoma is not cancer and women choose to surgically remove it only if it becomes really painful and bothersome. What I don't understand is how the radiologist recommended to surgically remove the lump because he thinks it's scar tissue and because it got bigger while at the same time tell you that the lump has cancerous cells underneath it?.Please try to get more information from your radiologist or a breast cancer surgeon.Best wishes.
If there's a definate presence of Cancer; then, have both the Cancer and the lump removed.
Sorry if I confused you. The bx result was Fibroadenoma. A f/u ultrasound was done 6 months later. The lump that had biopsied got a little bigger which the doctor thinks is scar tissue expansion. However, he recommended to remove it since its larger than 2 cm. and the area underneath the lump might posssibly have cancer cells. I hope this will clear up the misunderstanding. txs
