small red spot in breast

Hello, I'm asking because my mother is frightened to death for about 10 days. She had breast cancer 14 years ago. Now she found a small reddish spot on the same breast where she had surgery. The spot is about an inch in diameter and quite at the upper area of the decolleté. There is no change in size, no heat, no pain, nothing else, just this spot. The skin of the spot has a normal structure; it is not raised, not hot or especially sensible. The spot has not increased in size, but also not considerably decreased.

She has seen her gynecologist yesterday. He made a sonogram and checked the (axillary) lymph nodes. Then he said, it would be nothing serious, maybe an insect bite or a skin irritarion. - Is there anything more she can do now?

Hi.
How are you doing?
I think the best thing to do now is observe the small reddish spot on her breast for any change in character (increase in size, change in borders, etc).  Her gynecologist can be right in saying it may be an insect bite or an irritation.  She should also see her medical oncologist for further evaluation.  Though your mother was diagnosed with breast cancer 14 years ago, the possibility of another primary or recurrence in the skin should be ruled-out.
Good luck.
