what are the actual percentage rates for 15 y/o with ca

HI, WHILE I WAS COOKING BREAKFAST THIS MORNING, MY 15 Y/O DAUGHTER RAN INTO THE KITCHEN, YELLING "I HAVE A LUMP ON MY BREAST". I REALLY CANT REMEMBER WHAT MY INITIAL REACTION, BUT I KNOW I TOLD HER TO CALM DOWN AS TEARS STREAMED DOWN MY FACE UNCONTROLLABLY. I DONT KNOW IF ITS BEEN ALL THE EMOTIONS SURFACING FROM MY MOM BEING DIAGNOSED WITH BREAST CA ON DECEMBER 19, 2008.  I IMMIDIATELY PAGED MY DR WHO CALLED ME RIGHT BACK. HE ALSO SAID ITS UNLIKELY FOR IT TO BE BREAST CA AND SUGGESTED FIBROADENOMA. GOING TO DO SOME TESTS TO  CONFIRM WHAT IT IS. ITS SCARY FOR HER AND FOR ME. WE'LL SEE WHAT HAPPENS. I WANT TO KNOW WHAT THE ACTUAL PERCENTAGE OF LUMPS FOUND TURN OUT TO BE MALIGNANT TO WHAT IS FIBROADENOMA?

Well first of all Mom, let's get you to calm down, OK ?? Fibrocystic Breast Condition is quite common (50% of women have it) and it often begins during the teenage years. A Fibroadenoma is a BENIGN tumor of the breast and in younger women usually needs no treatment. Cysts can also develop due to the hormone levels in the body and these also benign but can be quite uncomfortable. If you would look back thru the pages of posts you will find quite a few young women from 12 to 17 or so that have also found lumps in their breasts. A percentage of breast lumps that are found to be due to cancer would be useless in your daughters case ... it would in no way apply to someone in her age group. I would advise you to take her to your family Physician for an examination and a detailed explanation of this all too common condition .... for both of you. Calm down now and see the Dr. to put both your minds as ease and also get some advice to lessen the discomfort associated with this condition.  Take care .....

I have never heard of a girl that young with bc.  I'm sure it is a hormone thing since she is so young.  I had a young friend that had the same thing and it eout to be nothing-just those hormones.
