chemo sores on buttocks

My parner has breast cancer and is going thru chemo.  She keeps developing what starts out as a blister, then quickly deteriorates to a elongated, red, raw sore.  We have tryed A&D ointment, neosporin, Aquasomething, powdr, etc.  My pharmacist suggested putting peroxide on the site, letting it air dry and then applying Gold Bond powder.  Do you have any suggestions.  They appear in the crack of her buttock - they have shown anywheres from the rectum area on up to the latest, near the vagina.  They are extremely painful and we don't know waht to do.  Help!

Thank you for your info.  She has another chemo treatment this Fri.  Meanwhile the peroxide, airdrying and Gold Bond powder cleared it up after several days.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi, it could be herpes infection, reactivated due to chemotherapy. This is more so as they are painful lesions. The herpes virus can lie dormant and can get reactivated at intervals producing symptoms. Hence there is no permanent cure. But antiviral medications like acyclovir, valacyclovir and famciclovir are known to shorten outbreaks and improve symptoms. So, please ask her to consult her doctor for medications. Regards.
