Advice regarding re-homing a cat

Good morning.  About 6 weeks ago we took in a  stray that was in pretty bad shape.  I took him to the vet, had him neutered, testing and all his shots.  He's a wonderful cat with us, occasional nip at the ankles, but nothing too severe, but my existing cats are terrified of him, and he's terribly aggressive with them.  The situation hasn't improved so we've decided that to be fair to him and our other kids, he should be elsewhere.  Right now he spends close to 20 out of 24 hours in a small room only having supervised excursions until he attacks one of the others and that's just not right.  It's not fair for him.  I'm afraid because of his aggressiveness towards other cats that if we take him to the local humane society they will put him down.  We have no family or friends who can take him.  I can't stand the idea of him being put down, I would rather let him back outside.  I don't know what to do and I'm looking for help or advice.  I love the little guy but he deserves a better life as an only cat in a house he can call his own.  Thank you for your time.

If you go online to petfinders.com or google "cat rescue" and your state, you might find a no kill shelter that can help you in the interim.   They might ask that you foster the cat until they find a home, but at least you will have other people helping you in your search.

I hope this helps!

Hi, I don't blame ya one bit for not wanting to take him to the humane society.  Sometimes they don't even give them a week before they're put down.  =(  Anyway, I would put an ad in the paper and put signs on the bulletin boards in vet's offices.  Many vets have these!!  You can always explain that the cat needs to be the only cat in the home.  I imagine that the poor thing had to fight other cats all the time living on the streets, and that's all he knows.  That is so sad.

Please let me know how everything goes!!!
