Cat does not like Human Grade Cat Food

Breanna is gaining even more pounds.  She is eating the food away from the other cats. I have tried to separate her food from the other cats, but with 6 people in the house that is almost impossible.  She always sneaks by and runs straight to the dish of the other cats food.  I have tried human grade cat food that I purchased online and I find a dirty sock in the cat food bowl or she dumps it onto the floor.  She hates the human grade cat food including Neumann's Organics. She is eating Iams cat food now and still gaining weight.  Any suggestions on yummy cat food that is good for her and will help her to lose weight?  I am getting tired of throwing cat food out because she does not like it and neither do the other cats in the house.  All three other cats are at a good healthy weight.  Breanna eats three times the amount they do I figure.

Mrs_Savas is right.

I just wanted to add that you could, weel, ADD flavor to her foods, maybe salmon oil. Usually, cats love fish flavor, so sprinkling a few drops of salmon oil over the food would actually be very well accepted. My cats love it. I get mine at the vitaminshoppe, and I get Carlson Norwegian Salmon Oil in capsules. This brand is preservative free, and high in EPA and DHA. I just cut the tip of the capsule and squeeze it all over the food. Or you could try other healthy flavors. Your choice.

Good Luck.

Yes, transitioning to human grade foods can be challenging.

One thing I find can help is to mix some of the food they prefer with the new food, and when you find a mix they will eat, start to taper them off until they are just eating the food you want them to eat.  I've had this work - really!

Also, there are lots of good brands of human grade foods, you might want to try another.  I can have my husband (Savas, my co-CL) write to you with some suggestions, if you like, as he is the real expert on this stuff.

You can also try a low-calorie formula for a while, to try to get her weight down.

Hang in there!
