Cat with loose stool

I acquired a kitten a few months ago. He is about 6-7 months old and came from a barn where they had many cats (at least 30). From day one I noticed the cat just was not well. He was very congested and had goopy eyes. We got that problem cleared up with some antibiotics. He seems to get congested again as soon as he goes off the antibiotic so the vet just gave us a new one to try which seems to be going well. We wormed him shortly after we got him, but noticed last week that he had very soft poop once again and observed a tapeworm. We took a stool sample to vet on Friday who said they saw no worms, but decided to treat for tapeworm since I saw one on his hind leg. Medicine was given on Friday and 3 days later he still has extremely soft poop. Wherever he sits he leaves a little pile of poo. I am at my wits end as he sits on my patio furniture and is getting poop everywhere. Any ideas what I am dealing with? I am allergic to cats so have never had one as a pet before and agreed to let my son get 2 barn cats. The other cat we got at the same time is doing great and is an excellent mouser! Not sure where to go from here as I don't want to spend a ton of money at the vet on a barn cat, but want him to be healthy. We feed dry cat food and he eats very well. Any ideas? Thanks so much!

Opus seems right , could be Coccidia.  This is a tough nut to crack and needs constant meds for a while. Also the goopy eyes is probably related to the herpes viral upper respiratory infection. Herpes is pretty common in kittens and can spread so Please do not just accept the Vets general consensus that antibiotics are warranted without first knowing what the diagnosis is. It worries me that they do not see worms and you do???

All and All your little kit is probably very dehydrated also from the diarrhea. So he will need some iv fluid (which I am also surprised your vet did not suggest).  Poor little guy --this is all controllable but you need to see a vet that takes a pro-active roll in getting to the bottom of this.

The money is something you can work out with      the vet with a payment schedule. CareCredit is an excellent way of paying monthly,. See if your vet will take this.  You cannot allow this little fellow to suffer like this or he will eventually die.

Please help the little one and ask the vet to work with you as a good Samaritan.

this is likely Intestinal Coccidia...a parasite. did the Vet do an investigation of the feces? take a sample in to the clinic and get the correct medication...poor baby, this can be cleared up
