Please Help Me with my cat

My 8-9 month cat Ariel has had two seizures since Thanksgiving. The first one she had, she urinated on herself, "screamed"...I call it that because it didn't sound like a meow... and had the seizure, then recovered and was perfectly normal besides being sleepy. I checked online and it said that it could have been a one time thing, so I waited to take her to the vet because I'm in college and don't have the kind of money to pay for $600 blood work at the moment. All day yesterday she was acing very very mean and then last night she had another one at 1:00 in the morning and it lasted about 30 seconds. Her mouth opened and it seemed like she was running, but she was laying on her side. I wrapped her in a towel once she started regaining consciousness, and had her lay in our mushroom chair, and she stayed there the rest of the night sleeping. This morning, she woke up fine and I brought water and food to her and she ate a little and drank a whole lot of water. She seemed just like she did before. I came home tonight after classes and took her a bath because she still smelled a little and noticed she had blood on her nose (not a bloody nose) and her jaw is locked in a sideways position and it can't open. She doesn't meow if I touch her mouth and there looks like there is bruising on her right side of the mandible. I'm just really scared and I don't know what to do and please someone help me. What is wrong with her jaw, can I help her?  She didn't run into anything during her seizure...so I don't know why her jaw is like this. I'm stressed enough with finals these next two weeks, I just need someone to tell me something. Please.

I am really sorry to hear this. Just know that you did what you could to safe her. Sometimes life is unfair, or so we think. But this...is definitely a learning experience.
Best wishes.

Little Ariel, rest in peace now.

Well she was originally a feral cat at my university, and I took her and her brother in a gave them a home. She was never outside after the day I took them.

I am so sorry to hear about Ariel. She must have had something wrong with her nervous system or brain to cause that.

Was she ever outside? Just a question, I had a puppy that was bit by a snake and it took him a week to finally pass but he would do some off the wall things and you could tell something wasn't right with his nervous system.

Just to let anyone know who cared:
I took Ariel to the vet to have a consultation and we had set up a anethetic appointment for her jaw for today at 7 am, but this morning at around 3am, she ran from the bed into the dining room and passed away.I have no idea what hapened. She was just starting to look better and was eating some a/d food and was snuggling with me again. I'm so sad right now, but I know she went to a better place. I keep hoping that it's all a big trick. I love you Ariel, and I hope you are spooning with Jesus now. =[

Thank you everyone for your thoughts and words.

Do you have a credit card available to you? You can try and apply for care credit. It's no interest, and it covers a lot of expensive tests you may have to pay for.

This could be a brain tumor, an injury to the head, epilepsy, etc.  The vet will probably perform a physical examination, a basic set of blood tests, and an electrocardiogram. These tests rule out disorders of the liver, kidneys, heart, electrolytes, and blood sugar level. A CAT scan or MRI can also be performed, but these tests are usually not necessary. So, ask for the blood work first, and the electrocardiogram. Then, if you happen to afford an MRI IF the blood tests show nothing (which I highly doubt) then I'd say go for it.

Sorry about your kitty. Please, take her to the vet ASAP. Get back to us, would you?

Good Luck.

Actually, to me this sounds like a possible head injury.  You mentioned bloody nose and a locked up jaw.  She might have gotten her head stuck somewhere or if you have roommates or someone came over they could've abused her.

I hope you take the cat to the vet, because there's nothing that any of us on this forum can tell you that could magically cure a locked up jaw and seizures.

Sorry to hear about your cat.  My sister had a cat with a similar problem awhile back.  She had testing done, and the cat was put on daily medication.  She knew the problem started with hers when it had a head injury.  Since your cat didn't have a previous injury that you are aware of, just mention all the symptoms to the vet.  I'm sure they can narrow down the cause, and if medication is prescribed, at least you won't have to worry about it happening repeatedly.  Good luck.

I am going to take her to the vet. I just want to know what to ask the vet while I'm there, I am willing to pay the money to help her. She is my baby and I saved her from my campus. I have her brother too and he is just fine and I would do anything to save either of them.
thank you
