I think the lamp method is because ringworm glows under ultraviolet light? Maybe someone can research that further.
I believe April is right. Dillan will be fine once he gets treated. Right now it's the waiting and not knowing for sure that causes the most anxiety.
Thanks, April. That makes me feel better.
Well, I got a call from the vet. They wanted to follow up on my cat's condition. They seemed pretty concerned about Dillan. I told them what I was seeing. They said for me to pick up Claxamox and an appetite stimulant with vitamins to strengthen his immune system. Everything was for free. If Dillan gets worse I'm supposed to drop him off without an appointment tomorrow, for free. That was good that they said that to me. I don't need an appointment. I can just go in the morning and leave him there so they take care of him. I already gave him his first doses. I'll come home later on tonight to check on him.
Thank You everybody.
That's what Misha had when I first adopted her. She was real sick for a long time, constantly sneezing, eyes watering. I was worried about her for some time. They did give her a couple of rounds of antibiotics but said if we took anymore it wouldn't work anymore. It took her a few months, really, to get completely well. I think she had it bad, though, probably worse than Dillan. Just give him time. Give him lots of tender loving care.
I really don't see why it takes so long for the results. My daughter got ringworm and they knew it right away and gave us a cream to put on it. Can't you just put this cream on, anyway, just in case that's what it is? I wouldn't think it would hurt and it could have it cleared up before you even get the results back in. Just a thought. Try not to worry. He'll be ok. Look how Misha turned out. She's a fat, happy cat now!
*sigh* I don't know what to think. They can't take my cat unless I want them to. Since I don't understand what they would try to do if indeed Dillan is severely sick with ring worms, I will only wait for the results and hope it is just scratches and hair loss from Abby's rough play. When the results are in, I will take it from there.
The lamp method is common to detect ring worm. Yes. It isn't odd. The method this vet is using is a liquid, yellowish substance where they collect scab and hair sample and put it in that solution. It could turn color fairly quickly and that would be a sign of ring worm. But if it doesn't, we have to wait and see. They will call me and let me know.
I am very irritated with his cold. He cannot stop sneezing for a minute and Abby is always right beside him. The kitten just wants to be in my arms but the sneezing on top of me makes me so sad. Did not let me sleep at all. He has what the shelter calls kennel flu. It's a virus, so I doubt clavamox or amoxicillin will do anything to help as those are against colds caused by bacteria. I'd still taking him to he vet. I wish they had something for my cat.
You may have to take your kitten to the vet to have it done if she won't let you do it. We had a foster cat and trimming his claws was like that...It took at least two people and it still wasn't enough.
PrettyKitty1, please let us know how it turns out. If you put up enough fight they can't take Dillan away from you. After all it would be in their best interest to make sure you have the right animal and if Dillan is the best animal for you then they shouldn't take him away. I wonder if it was the "lemon law" they were trying to bring up when they talked about replacement. It was likely something they brought up to avoid getting sued if someone adopted from them and got a sick animal and they didn't plan for it. Doesn't make it right, but that's likely the reason why they made that suggestion.
