Feeding Tube being placed tomorrow

Maddie is having a esophageal feeding tube put in tomorrow. She continues to have problems eating due to mouth sores which appeared after having all of her teeth extracted. She has tested positive for bartonella and we will begin treatment for that in the hopes that it is the cause of the sores. In the meantime, we need to keep her eating, so the e-tube will be placed tomorrow. Just wondering if anyone has any pointers, advice, comments, etc. Just trying to be as prepared as possible...

Thanks so much in advance,
Heather

I am so sorry to read this about Maddie, I am also sorry for not checking up on how she has been doing since we last spoke, poor little girl. those oral sores are still not healing...and she can't eat. I wish I knew more about all this to help you with advice...we had a former member who used a feed tube with her kitty a few years ago but she is no longer posting.

I tried to look up some sites, have found very little so far. found one that had good info on esophagostomy..insertion/care and complications of...however its for horses(still searching for more on cats)...but this will give you some knowledge to begin with.

best of luck to our poor little girl, you are doing an awesome job mommy♥
