How can I overcome this loss

Today I have been forced to give away my beautiful 6 year old pewter Persian cat Leon. He has been going down the road when I have been unable to let him in ( I have MS ) and going into my scary neighbour's house and frightening her cats. The Police have been called as she has subjected me to dreadful rants on the phone (her number is now barred ).
He is a good and mild cat and today I had to hand him over to the adoption agency.
Being bed-bound some days because of my disease I feel utterly bereft.
I now only have my mini dachshund Alfie but until today have never been without a cat (I'm 62).
What can I do?
I feel berieved and in shock

Any advice?

Hi Jojo,

How are things going for you with or without Leon??? Sure hope you were able to get him back and keep him inside with you and his litter box.

I know in the UK most people allow their cats free roam, but in the
States we are just the opposite. Cats live so much longer inside. Leon may have to get used to it--won't like it at first, but it will be worth it in the long run.

Here's to you taking your Leon Power back!!

Let us know what is going on with the situation, K?
Thanks,
Clare

Hello Jojobar,

Life has dealt you enough of a hardship with MS and you seem to have the srength and courage to  meet it head on, so NO you should not have to give up your beautiful and beloved Leon.

Call the adoption shelter tomorrow and take back your baby. He will have to become an indoor Only cat from now on. If you think this is a possibility that you both can live with, then the Hell with your neighbor and you need have nothing further to do with them.

We sometimes feel like we are given some impossible obstacles to overcome only to  have more problems heaped on top of that. It may seem unfair at times but I dare say it is the strongest of us who must deal with this....why??? because we have the inner fortitude to deal with whatever comes our way, in some ways it seems like a curse but my dear it is a blessing. We are the survivors and nothing can keep us down for long. Life is too precious to waste wallowing in a dark corner.

You are strong enough and intuitive enough to know that yourself. Fight for your Leon, he is what keeps you strong. Bring him home , he is your family and you are too tenacious to allow anyone , especially a self loathing neighbor, come between you and what is yours.

Leo may take a while to get used to staying inside , but he will be able to stay with you and his brother Alfie. That is worth giving up the outside world. As long as he is with you and the love you give him he will be fine.

Please, Please try to do this for your sake and to show your neighbor she can not bully you, you won't go away that easy.

As we say in the US "You go Girlfriend" --be happy and the hell with the rest of the world.

Please let us know what happens, and stay in tough--we are here for you for more than just Leon. You have family with us!

Sincerely,
a new friend to you, Leon, and Alfie!

Can you put in a cat flap or door somewhere so he could let himself in?  You might be able to find someone at the rescue to help you do it.  Then you could keep him.
