Internal fungal, upper respiratory sytem- cat

My cat makes nose when breathing, and bleed from his nose's skin. I took him to the vet, who said he has internal fungal in his upper respiratory system, and gave Ketokonazole (50 mg, 100 capsuls). after 2.5 months I saw an improvment, but 10 days after finishing with medication, it came back. The vet said my cat needs to be on Med. all his life. I can't afford it. My cat is outdoor and indoor, 10 yrs old. He eats, but lost weight, and has a discharge from his eyes. I got OxyDoc (great life company), but there's no improvment, even though it's not getting worth. I'm looking for homeopathic or natural rememdy, and inexpensive, I can give my cat. I can't keep him indoor all the time, he goes crazy, wanting to be out. Thank you for your help.

Thank you so much for that info. I paid almost $100 for 100 capsuls of 50mg, and that at a pharmacy. I think you're right, even though the Vet diagree that I should buy the 200mg and cut them. This is definatly affordable and will last for a long time.

Thank again, that's really help!

Vet Depot ( http://www.vetdepot.com/ketoconazole-200-mg-100-tablets.html ) sells it for $25.99 for 200 mg, 100 tablets.  Since your cat is taking 50 mg, just cut the tablets into quarters.  Fungal infections, while not all that serious if treated, can be persistent and take quite a while to resolve.

I have a cat that had a internal fungus and had to be medicated for 9 months.  The thing that saved me was that the vet gave me a prescription and I got it through my pharmacy.  It was about half the cost of the vet.  I don't know if this would help, but it is an option.  They might also have a generic or something that could be less cost. Too bad you couldn't get your Dr. to prescribe it to you.  :)  I know- I'm bad.
