My cat has a fluid pocket under his chin

My cat has a fluid pocket under his chin that keeps refilling when drained. We have drained it twice now about a week apart. It has no odor and is clear, mucus type fluid. It doesn't seem to hurt him. He eats and drinks normal. Has no discharge or bad odor to his breath. No sneezing or coughing. Any ideas???

has a Vet taken a look at this and diagnosed it for you? there doesn't necessarily need to be an odor for it to be infected, but since the antibiotic didn't work this could well be a cyst of some sort or the antibiotics weren't the of the right type. It should be drained and removed by a Vet. in the midterm you could try warm compresses and see if that decreases it(not too warm)
good luck and keep us informed please♥

Hi and thanks for getting back to us. Our cat is an inside cat only. The thing that tricks me is the pocket of fluid has no odor when drained as I would think an infection would. It is clear mucus. It doesn't seem to be painful at all, not even when we lance and drain it. He has no sneezing, coughing or any other discharge. He eats and drinks fine. Put him on antibiotics first for a week but had no affect on the pocket of fluid.

Hello and welcome...This sounds like an abscess.  You'll want your vet to treat it before it gets out of control.  Does your boy go outside?  If so, he may of gotten into a scuffle with another cat.  This is often how abscess happen...from an infected scratch or bite.  I know hydrogen peroxide can be safely used, however, what I don't know is if that in itself will take care of it.

Best of luck and please keep us posted!
