Hi, I did some online searching and wanted to try and help out with this. It was not easy finding info. But, I did find a PDF of the Nioxin safety data sheet. It's got all the specifics on there, like chemical content, etc. You will be able to save a copy and give your vet a copy of all of the ingredients. That will help the vet figure out if it's safe or not.

Hi Bitty,
Yikes I hope that is mis-information. I have been using Noroxin products for a year and my kit not only sleeps on my head she sleep IN my hair.
I do only use the shampoo and sometimes their conditioner.
She seems just fine, although she has been sneezing lately, but I think that is due to cleaning products for my home. I try and keep her away, but inevitably she has to be the first on the floor when I finally open the door. OMG she might miss something.
I have bought the large and very expensive bottle of that shampoo, so I am hoping to finish it. If you find that the shampoo is dangerous , please let me know, though. My Kit is more important than my thinning hair, as it should be.
Thanks,
CM
My vet is out of town. I will not use that shampoo after reading all this. Thank you all so much. I bought prenatal vitamins and biotin tonight. Prenatal vitamins just because I know they help skin and hair grow fast. No. I won't do that to my babies. The good thing is I can return the hair products back to Ulta. I think that Ojon is what is recommended for cancer patients to help hair regrow. So I decided to return the stuff. Thank you all so much.
Hello Bkitty2,
I read your comments this morning about you starting a new hair program
for thinning hair called Nioxin. I hadn't heard of nioxin so I googled it.
Actually I googled " dangerous side effects of nioxin" on a hunch.
Well if you google the same thing I goggled with the exact same wording,
you will see a whole list of websites. If you scroll down the page,
you will come across an article called " Report on Nioxin : Ingredients,
Side Effects and Usage by AskDocWeb.
Nioxin has a dangerous ingredient in it . It has been known to cause
cancer in animals. It's well worth a read. I believe the dangerous ingredient
begins with a "d". It may be dioxine. I can't quite remember. Based on
what I read in this article, my hair is thinning too a little bit, I would never
use nioxin based on what I read. If it causes cancer in non human animals,
well we're animals too, so there is no way I would take a chance.
I don't know if you've ever heard of the shopping channel. You can buy
something called Remedy Shampoo and Conditioner from a company
called Kalaya. They often have their products on sale. I don't use this
shampoo and conditioner everyday. I usually use it twice a month.
My husband uses it too. It really is a very good product. You may find
other hair products on this website that you like too. Another good one
is Ojon which I also use. They make a foam conditioner which I find works
really well with the Kalaya products I mentioned and you don't need very
much and it smells amazing. So there you have it. Hope you find this
information helpful. I'm sure your kitty would like these products too. Eve
Hey kitty girl...I don't know anything outside of googling like you probably did, but just from what I read, I don't think I would take a chance with Beener sleeping right near (or ON, lol) your head where he would inhale the fumes. Let us know what your vet says, k?
I wish you well with your hair! Mine is thinning a bit, too. On one side in the front. Very distressing. :(
