If the area around the wound is not healing, is dead and won't take stitches then you need to find a better vet.
That dead tissue is a major problem......it is not only dead but spreading fatal bacteria. It needs to be 'taken' off to the layer of healthy tissue.
Your cat is not eating or recovering because she is full of bacterial infection.
If your Vet won't do anything...find another!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this is a 911 situation!
Are you able to take her back to the vet? They should take a look at the wound. Try to avoid infection in that area. You could put Hydrogen Peroxide. I've done this with my kitties and it has worked pretty good. Just don't let her lick it. I'm not sure if you should cover that area to aid healing. I'd take her to the vet. She must be in pain if she doesn't even wish to eat.
Good Luck.
Hi, I am sorry to hear about your kitty and understand how upsetting this is to you-wanting to help and not knowing how to fix it! = ( I've never had to deal w/ something like this before. What has your vet suggested? This is what I would do-I'd put lots of antibiotic ointment on the wound and wrap it and to prevent your cat from pulling off the bandage I would use an E-collar. You definitely don't want this wound to get infected!
I DO have a suggestion for your cat's lack of appetite-ask your vet to prescribe an appetite stimulant. My cat is on one and it works great. Worked within 15 minutes!!
I hope these suggestions have helped you and I'm sorry that I didn't see your post yesterday. Please come back with an update and let me know how your kitty is doing!
Take care!
