Our cat was found dead. What happened?

She was lying on her side younger slightly out bleeding slightly from her nose. She went out at 830 and this was 1230. Her legs had rigor but her belly was still soft. She didn't appear to have any external trauma..so we are a little stumped as to what might have happened. I did notice that she has lost some weight and has not been as interested in eating her food lately.

Sounds similar to our Queen Victoria. She died in her sleep of a heart attack in May 2000 at age 17 1/2.
