Ah hell. Sorry to hear that. There's an old cliche, when it rains it pours... and I'm breaking out my flood pants. A tired cliche but it does apply.
I know cats can recover and go into remission, but if your vet is saying that's the case...well, the only thing i can suggest that I've done is put the cat on a forcefeeding schedule (like that milk replacer i mentioned?). If there is a chance that Penny will get over the bout, it's about the only way. Often the lack of nutrition will add to the problem and speed things along.
But keep in mind this is a bet of a "desperate hope" sort of thing. It can work, but can just as easily fail. If your vet is talking about bone marrow therapy...then you'll have to decide just how far you're willing to go for an extreme shot.
mind you, I'm not saying to do this or not. It's one of those decisions only you can make. When I've done it and it hasn't worked, i've always felt terrible afterwards that I prolonged an experience that was likely somewhat awful for a cat. (why i rarely do it now).
Well that's sucky....I didn't know Penny had leukemia. Well the only thing you can do is give her lots of love and kisses. She must feel like ****, poor kitty. I don't know if you've done it but it would be wise to test your other cats for FeLV. They are at risk of becoming sick with this condition. Virus is shed in very high quantities in saliva and nasal secretions, but also in urine, feces, and milk from infected cats. Cat-to-cat transfer of virus may occur from a bite wound, during mutual grooming, and (though rarely) through the shared use of litter boxes and feeding dishes. If your financial situation allows, please have the others tested so you know what's coming inadvance. To my understanding, with good care the kitty may live for months. However, she may die of other diseases since this virus weakens the system...
I would give her lots of attention. Spend time with her as much as you can. I'm sorry about your little one.
Penny goes on saturday. We called the vet today...
Shanks died of a mutational virus thats random in young cats....It caused him to go insane and he couldnt retrack from there...
Penny on the other hand...her lukimias acting up and she lays around the house all day...barely eating...The vet said she will not make it even if i do a bone marrow trans. It'll be just a bandaid for her....I...dont know if i can take loosing three animals all at once....
That's exactly what I did but it didn't work. The page loads but the video can't be seen. I guess I'll try later. Again, sorry about your loss. Good luck with the vet visit. Your kitty will do great.
Pennys visit is next tuesday...but maybe sooner
hmmm...i suppose try copy pasting to browser?
Savas is right. Cats heal faster than humans. I believe you'll take much much longer, but you'll make it. I lost 2 beloved dogs both on the same day. They were poisoned. Years later I adopted my kitty Abby. I still remember my dead pets but it doesn't hurt as much. Abby keeps me busy.
Good Luck hun...and I'm not able to access the link you posted. Am I the only one?
belated good luck! Cats tend to be a lot faster than humans when it comes to adjusting to a loss of a sibling. give them a few weeks and they'll likely adjust.
