Their bathroom, my front garden ...

I have some neighbors moved in not too far from my house, bringing with them 2 cats, inside/outside like my calico tweety, well Tweety seems to like  them, and I think she is bringing them into my front garden to use it as a bathroom, now she is very clean and cleans it up making sure that plenty of dirt is covering it, but these two dont they leave it laying out...now I have discovered this last 18 months since she appeared on my doorstep that cats are a law unto them selves.so I may be stuck with it,it also makes the DH yell,  but I was wondering if there would be spray I can use in the garden that may put them off, that wont hurt them or my plants and bushes .any other ideas are welcome , thank you ...

I think I will put up with it and let the Dh yell at them, .so I better put some big rocks over that area in the front yard, I live in the foothills so there are loads of rocks that have rolled down or always been there, so maybe I will have to cover up the Poop and play Mom again .Tweety seems to like them .. I have had so many problems in 6 months with dogs now its cats ...oh brother good thing I love animals ...thanks guys you are wonderful .....

My advice would be to head off to your local feed store (home depot MIGHT have it) or order on-line a small vial of LEGITIMATE Coyote urine. I say a small vial to start off with as you never know how *your* pet might react to it.

I use coyote urine around and in my composite pile, it keeps possums and raccoons and other scavengers away. Who after all wants to hang around when a large predator's been there? It's also effective around gardens to keep deer, rabbits and such from munching on your hard work - if it's a veggie garden, than it won't harm anyone in the family, you just got to remember to wash the food carefully - just like you normally would.

The only downside I have found using Coyote urine (in my area) is that I have shoo'ed off a few over the years as I live at the base of a virtually untamed mountain. But even the few that have ventured over to check it out have been agressive or anything and ran when the light's came on.

If Coyote Urine helps, you'll need to re-apply at regular intervals - depending on the strength of the contents. It's natural; doesn't harm anything/anyone; it also helps support our country's zoos as they "collect it" and sell it to companies that botte it and sell to us.

I hope that helps.

I deal with the same exact problem, Margy.  Jade is a lady and covers up her business, however, neighbor kitty and possums who use our garden and backyard as a potty, do not and it can be a real mess.  I'm afraid you'll have to live with this since Tweety is indoor/outdoor and anything you sprayed...well, I know you and your love of animals and I know you'd never do anything to hurt a fly, but I don't know of anything natural that would be harmless for all the cats.

Hopefully someone else may have a thought, meanwhile, what I do when seeing ANY other cat other than Tipsy (neighbor cat) is clap my hands to shoo them away (I really hate to scare kitties, but I love Jade more) since you don't know what kind of shape other cats are in and you don't want disease spread to your girl.
