fantastic news.....good for you miss Hildie, I'm so happy you are doing so very well for your parents♥
Great update, Pip! Like to hear about the canned food, too. :) My g.f. has an elderly kitty who lived basically on dry food only. I've seen this kitty and it was disturbing to say the least with the skin condition, SMELL, near bald patches, fur dry and brittle. She started him on canned, and he's made a huge turnaround. I can tell you Jade was fed only dry food, and she was a real mess when we first met her. Anyway, good job on all fronts! :)
Got the blood test results back from the new vet, he is very pleased. Said Miss Hildie is right dead center of where he likes to see the numbers. He ordered a fructosamine test instead of an AH1.
Said it looks like we are doing the right things for her. Likes that we are getting the girls to eat more canned food rather than as much dry kibble as before (agreed that the Friskies - Blue Buffalo mix is likewise better).
Also said that his clinic will show us how to do the blood sugar monitoring at home if we would like to learn. Recommended that such is just needed every 2 - 3 months in a kitty that has well-controlled diabetes like Miss Hildie.
ZQ and FBM....so glad to see you both posting, hoping to see more of you both on the forum...have a great new year ahead, hope your both well♥
Hi Pip, the vet sounds great and he sounds like he sincerely cares! You couldn't ask for more from a vet!
Hope you and your girls have a wonderful, healthy new year! =)
Thanks for the update, Pip. Very happy to hear of the girl's new vet.
It sets your mind at ease to have a doc like the one you describe.
Now if only I could find one for my aging self;).
the new Vet sounds awesome, how I would love Marcus Welby for them as well as myself..:))
so happy to hear that Hildie continues to do so well, credit goes to the loving support of good parents.
Going to be a love/hate relationship between Hildie and Teia, much like my two boys.
Keep up the great work:)
Today's visit went quite well, both vet tech and vet thought Miss Hildie a quite amenable little critter with whom to work.
The vet has been practicing for over 35 years, remind me of Marcus Welby in his manner. Grilled me pretty good on diet and other habits we have for caring for the girl. Said it sounds like Anita and I are are well informed, caring pet parents.
He had a couple of suggestions, and seems quite a proponent of teaching his clients as much self-care as possible.
Over all, a very good visit.
As i type, Miss Hildie is running to and fro, chasing invisible prey.
A little bit of role reversal when we first got home from the clinic a few hours ago....Miss Hildie chased Miss Teia upstairs.
Hildie ate supper from Teia's bowl in the kitchen. Teia had supper in Hildie's spot on the staircase. Chessie was oblivious and kept to her sanctuary upstairs.
Hail all,
Visited a few different vets on Thursday and did go with the one recommended by the realtor to whom I spoke one day while looking at new housing he represents.
Miss Hildie has an appointment next Thursday for a checkup. The veterinarian she will be seeing at this practice has been with them since he co-founded the clinic in 1977.
I got a good feel from them when I went in to chat. The receptionist was willing to engeage in conversation and I got the sense that although this is a big clinic (7 vets on staff), they really put the interests of pets and their people first.
They even have separate areas for dogs and cats in their waiting room.
Hopefully Miss Hildie will react positively like I did.
I am so happy to read this positive update!
What did you think of the new Vet?
Hi, Pip! It's wonderful to hear that Hildie is doing so well!!
Hope this vet is a good one. Let us know how it goes!
