Kittens eyes

Just an update on Pigpens' kit's eyes! They're looking alot better already! I got some baby shampoo and washed all the shop dirt off them and their little faces. The eyes open much easier after I get the crud cleaned back off them again (I try to get to the shop at least 2x a day to take care of them) and they just perk up so much after I clean them. As far as I can tell there's no infection, the eyes look clear after I rinse w/the saline so I'm hopeful their  vision will be ok. My main concern is that she has a 3rd kit that I haven't seen yet, Ed has seen it but Pigs keeps that one hidden for some reason, i really want to get that one cleaned up too. Pigs is starting to be more trusting of me, she knows now that I bring her babies right back and I usually have some sort of snack for her. All in all so far so good!

thx for the update, I ditto CML's comments about the stomatitis and herpes virus...momma is no doubt a carrier of this virus and thus could possibly be in alot of pain herself if she has stomatitis, if we only knew the extent of the hardships and a life of pain these poor ferals face. bless you for trying your best to care for them all.

I would really like to see you get this Lysine and put it in some wet food for them all, it would really help build up the immune system, especially with the kittens...

CML...yes the dropper technique works very well, my boys take various supplements for other reasons and its the only way I can get these into them...I buy the droppers from a pharmacy, can be found in the childrens section for use to administer meds to babies. OR those large syringes from your Vet(minus the needle tip) they'll sell them to you.

Hi Bob,

Ya know mama cat may not be able to help being unkempt . Stomatitis is a condition that is very common in cats with the herpes virus. Unfortunately it affects the cats ability to eat or clean . They only do  IF they must. The reason is the severe infection in their gum line. I had to have  my cats teeth totally removed to cure her.  So I know that is not possible , but it may be the same thing. Poor thing if it is Stomatitis, Mama can just about bear it herself let alone take care of her kitties. You may not think she appreciates the Nanny help, but bet she does. She is just feral and they are always suspicious of we humans.  Can't blame her I am too, LOL!

Good for you that you are being so caring of these little creatures. Perhaps eventually you will socialize them enough that the fear will subside.

God Bless you for your kindness.

***Opus, I am going to try the Lysine powder you suggested. Very difficult for me to get anything past Meezy Mouth, without it Being loaded with BAD ingredients.  This way I can try with the dropper. She really needs to get that lysine in her....it does really help with the Herpes flair-ups.

The Best to both of you.
....and Bob5 keep us updated on your babies. Maybe even some pics?????

Sincerely,
CML
