Update: Kitty isn't coming home :(

I'm sorry I keep bringing on the bad news. I wish I could tell you all that everything resulted as planned. Abby has developed an abscess and they once again had to sedate him and take care of that. Doctors do not feel comfortable sending him home and will call me with an update tomorrow, Tuesday. He is stable and doing fine, they said. But then again they always say the same thing, and then call and tell me he is not healing. I wonder what the heck is going on with my cat. Why can't he heal already?

Any ways; I will post again when I receive different news, I guess.

Oh no!  Oh, honey, you must be so very disappointed.  Really sad to read this.  I'm so very sorry to hear an absess formed.  Well, Abby couldn't be in a better place and he'll be watched round the clock so try not to worry.  Easier said than done, I know :(   You just want your boy to come home.  

Please don't say sorry.  You are just telling the facts as they are.  We all want to know how Abby is whether it's good or bad news.  Of course, we always hope for good.  Keep posting Baby Girl.  We are all here for you.  None of us could possibly feel worse about this bad news than you do.  

I'm praying so hard and hope Abby heals and comes home soon.

He's been through a lot, that's for sure. He's a young, strong cat, though. He'll get through this, PK. Just one more hurdle.

Oh I am so sorry for your continued heartache dear...you and that poor boy, man he's had it all hasn't he...but I agree he is one strong kitty and will overcome.

Got a call from the vet at the emergency center. Abby is still having some discharge, so they will keep him in today. Because the doctor did not explain to me why my cat wasn't healing (Really, all they do is tell me he doesn't want to follow the rules and that he is special and blah blah blah) I called Abby's vet today. The vet will call me back today. I just want a second opinion. Why is he not healing? I need answers and I'll get the somehow. I'm sure Abby's vet will give me what I need. Even though they are not treating him, they get the reports from the emergency hospital every day. They know what is going on. And they are very good. So I'll be waiting on that call today, to finally get some answers and see if there is something I should be doing or could do to help with the situation.

I may be getting free service, but I still have the right to know why my kitty isn't doing well. I'm even scared that they may not be doing a good job. But if I start to think about that it will not help the situation and I'll just get worse emotionally. And I'm already a train wreck as it is.

I don't blame you at all for wanting a second opinion.  I would too.  Sorry the ER won't go into any detail and keeps giving you the same answer.  I can tell your angry.  That would frustrate me also!  I mean, they must have Some clue?

Let us know what your vet says.  Hopefully, they will call right back. Your right...they're getting the reports and hopefully will have some compassion for you and understand your worry and try to give you a more detailed explanation and put your mind at rest.  

It COULD be the stress, why he's not healing, but that's just a guess, of course.

Got a call from the vet at the hospital. Abby is ready to come home!!!! I'm hoping this time is for real. I can't wait to see my cat. Gotta go now. The hospital is far away and I have to be there in an hour and a half. YAY!!!!!

Yea, Abby's coming home! I know you're so relieved. Pamper him and keep him away from the playful little Dylan for awhile! We want him to heal up real nice so that he will be back to his old self real soon!

Well I just got back. The incision is closed. We have an appt on Monday. The owner of the hospital wants to see him, check on the incision and make sure it stays close and nicely healed. So far it all looks good. Abby has been drinking water, exploring the house, sniffing, tail up high, running here and there, and just being happy. I will keep an eye on him. Then I'll put him in a room where Dillan can't get to him when I'm not watching them.  He is checking out the squirrels in the yard (He is inside, of course) Listening to the sound of the birds, and exercising his muscles in the cat tree. It is a joy to see him so well. I think this time they really did a good job. I'm so happy...so, so happy he is home, well, safe and sound!

Gotta go now. I'm exahusted :)

Oh, what great news!  I let out a big sigh of relief for you :)  Sounds like Abby is on the mend, finally.  I know he is happy to be home....with you.  You sound great today.    

I love to hear his tail is up high and he's even climbing the cat tree!  Tells me he's feeling so much better.  He is young and strong...you're little miracle boy :)

Ok, hon, I'm sure your heart is so much lighter today.  You get some much deserved rest...just kick back, enjoy your beautiful kitties...and relax!

I'm w/ Jade and think it's such a great sign that he's running around w/ his tail up in the air.  That's a sure sign that he's feeling great and is enjoying his life.  A happy kitty.  You get some rest, hon.  You so deserve it!

WOOHOO!!!!  When I first read the title of the thread, my heart sank.  I was scared to read it.  I was afraid he wouldn't get to come home at all.  He's such a fighter and has a great momma.

Aw....aligator...thank you. How many lives you think he's got left? lol He has been through so, so much, my poor kitty, I just can't help but to feel sorry for him every time I look at him. Innocent creature...

bmused, thanks.....I went for a nap and he followed me. He slept a bit and now is eating again. He is so happy to be home it's unbelievable. I knew he was dying to leave that place. He is so comfortable!

Jade and ZQ....I do sound great, don't I. I am so excited to have him here. I keep looking at the incision just to check on it. I am a bit paranoid. It's still closed and there is no discharge. He even wanted to eat my tilapia...little piggie. I wanted to spoil him and give him a piece since my fish didn't have any seasoning and it was grilled (since I'm having food aversion and almost everything upsets my stomach), and it is his favorite meal. But...........not yet with the natural food. Not yet :) We have to get him healthy 100% before he goes through any more changes. I am almost sure he will now get the break he so deserves. A smile came to my face when I woke up from my nap and he was next to me, sleeping like a little angel. God bless his heart!

Oh PK, what  a miracle!  I wasn't on the computer yesterday and just checked here at 4 am!  What a trooper your little boy Abby.  That's such a good sign with everything you say he is doing since coming home.  My continued prayers go out to Abby and you.
