I agree with opus88's advice. My husband and I have a male gingercat.
He throws up hairballs from time to time. We give him some antihairball
remedy paste from time to time. You can buy it at the pet food store.
You're not supposed to give this paste every day. Important to read the
directions. Our cat loves it. I either let him lick it off my finger or put the
paste on a teaspoon ( 1/4 teaspoon of paste) and our cat just licks it
off. As opus88 stated, it will help her expel any additional hairballs.
After a cat has thrown up, I read in one of my cat resource books, that
it's not advisable to give them food right away. I usually wait about half
an hour to allow the cat's stomach to settle down. Our current cat was
formerly diabetic so our vet has advised us to continue giving him
diabetic food but in restricted quantities. He gets regular fructosamine
tests to make sure everything is still normal. Anway, before we got our
current cat, we had another female cat who also threw up a lot of hairballs
until we put her on antihairball food. I think it was made by Science Diet.
It's always an idea to check with your vet before changing your cat's food.
It might not be a bad idea to take your kitty to the vet to get checked over
at which time you could tell the vet about her throwing up a hairball and
what he or she thinks. Perhaps the vet will suggest antihairball food for
your cat or you could ask them what they think about this choice of food
for your kitty. Good luck. Eve
hi, I am not a Vet and if at all concerned please be sure to take your kitty in for a check up.
In my opinion only if it was a hairball than I've never seen it happen however I would think if that hairball was lodged in the windpipe for a bit too long perhaps kitty had a temporary loss of air and became dizzy?....sorry I can't be of more help but I have never seen this happen, but since she is acting and eating fine now, I would just keep an eye on her to see if it happens again.
do you give her some hairball remedy once in awhile? its available in a tube like toothpaste at good pet stores...don't get the grocery store stuff.
or if she will lick it off your finger give her a small amount (1/4 teas.) of WHILE petroleum jelly....you can mix this with a treat to get her to lick it off. this will help expel any additional hairballs.
