I just had to look at the photo....'tweety' is it?? she is one beautiful cat, you are very lucky she choose you indeed...to me all cats are unique but some more beautiful than others...I like strong markings. and than what do I get but a solid black Nemo..lol.
he too found me in a strange way.
Who is DH Margy? another cat?
To answer your question....YES booster shots are due every year....although! speak to your Vet abt this..I had a chat with Thomas Dock Vet Tech on here and most of the shots ie: rabies you do NOT need to boost every year, spoke to my Vet and that is correct only every 5 years....so that is much safer for the kitty.
And I think most of the shots need not be every year, so check with your Vet on that question. I want them protected but given as little as possible to do it with.
You will in years to come be very glad that Tweety came to you, they have a special way of crawling in and grabbing your heart.

Thank you so much it makes me feel better I will go get a harness today ,we ahve only just put the house up for sale so I doubt if we will move for a few weeks ,depends how fast it sells..we are not moving more than12 miles away .She was a lost cat and she kept coming to the house after a few months I fed her...the rest is history I wanted a dog, so I tried to get her a home , (pics of her on my profile)  but so many peopel wanted to give her a hiome but as soon as I said I wanted to come and see where she would be going,it went silent, so I got fed up and decided to keep her, my DH doesnt like cats and she is a hunter, brings critters in...we hate that part of cat owning ...anyway I have her and we are moving .Your leash idea has made me feel better I was wondering how I could do it I dont think shes known any other area .One last question I had her shots and fixing done last year when are shots due again or will the Vet let me know it must be a year in March or April

Oh for sure moves are very stressfull on everyone!
I never use a collar, I use a harness..avail at pet stores. and at first I just got him used to wearing his harness around the house and getting used to the feel of it...than put the leash on and stepped outside with him, at first he took off a running thinking he was free..but soon came to an abrupt halt.
than its nature for a cat on a leash to just sit..and refuse to go anywhere...wait him out, he'll soon want to walk around abit and I just follow along in tow...if he stops I stop, if he walks I walk...makes you wonder who's leading who...lol
Now he waits at the door for me to hook up his leash before going out..its just become natural to him.
good luck...when's the move?

Thank you guys...how did you train your kitty onto a leash.Opus .I did try to put a collar round her neck and she jumped all over the place , It will be hard to try and keep her in but I know that I will have to, she has only known the area around where I live as someone already dumped her when she found me . I am not looking forward to it at all,the big move alone is stressfull and I am talking about ME ....

When I was a kid and we moved every few years, my parents told me that cats should be kept inside for about two weeks when moving to a new home.

Moving can be stressful for any pet. I agree with Opus. Let her get real familiar with your new house before even thinking of letting her out and even then I'd watch her and just let her out in the backyard and such for awhile.
Good luck with the move! Hope all goes well. :)

the cute things these babies do!! biting your toes, my Sami bites my legs If I should bring him in before he's ready(he's on a leash)
I had one kitty years ago that didn't do well with moves at all and had to be given a mild tranquilizer(we moved often)...but that is the extreme, most kitties take to ok...they will explore the new place non stop for at least 3 days until..they have sniffed out every single spot and become accustomed to the new scents, then they'll settle...I sure would n't let kitty outdoors for a good while though, not until it becomes real familiar with new home, I wouldn't want her trying to find the old house...and yes they can travel 20 miles or more to do so.
GOOD LUCK WITH SELLING YOUR HOUSE TOO!!
