Thank you, that is useful info...I will remember that...Have a Merry Christmas
Thank you so much and yes I will ask the vet...Have a Merry Christmas
Hi! about 10yrs ago my kitties got a cold- all of them as its very contagious from cat to cat. The vet told me to put them in the bathroom with the shower running for the hot steam to help with the congestion. He also told me to feed them "stinky" food with water mixed in it,,so I fed them tuna fish. He did not prescribe an antibiotic as it was a virus. It last about 3 days. They were all running a fever but my vet said it was ok as it was natural defense mechanism to fight the virus. Check with your vet before giving any medications. ~Bkitty
I agree with Jade...never give a human med to a cat without checking with a Vet first...its unknown how many mg per lb. to give besides if you don't have enough to completely kill the infection it will return with a vengeance
Oh I see you are asking about cat COLDS....colds are never treated with an antibiotic never not even in humans....colds are viral not bacterial. and virus's cannot be treated with an antibiotic.
get the supplement L-lysine from your Vet or a health foods store to treat kitties immune system if she has a 'cold'...ie: upper respiratory disease..
Hi there and welcome. Keflex and Cephalexin (your second post) are the same drug. Yes, it is given to cats, however, you would want to contact your vet for the correct dosage since it would be administered according to weight. The human amt would be WAY too strong for kitty and I wouldn't even begin to Guess how much would be right, nor should you. Don't even take a chance.
