cat itchy skin bumps

My cat does not have fleas.  Same bumpy scabby itchiness on lower back and bottom 4 inches of her tail as what is described in these 2008 notes.  Also dry skin flakes.  She is 9 and somewhat overweight.
The 2nd cat is 8, thin and male.  No problem there.
And the 3rd cat is 1, female and no problem yet.  I feed them canned friskies and no grain high protein kibble.

Hi, my 4yr old Lily has something strange going on. We moved a wk ago. She had the scabby back end like other people have mentioned, it was almost healed. No she doesn't have fleas positively.  I bought a real soft halter for her before we moved. I put it on her daily so she could get used to it before the trip. So we've been in our new place a wk. I took off halter 2days after we arrived. Then last nite she's laying with me and I notice these bumps kinda around her shoulders, her sides n chest. First thing I think is the halter has broken her out. The bumps are the size of the top of a pencil eraser, she doesn't endless scratch them. But when she does, it seems to hurt her. Now today I see she also has them on her neck, n sides of her ears n more on her back n hind quarter and has slight soft BMs not watery just soft. All comments welcome!!! Hopefully soon. As most of u, I to am hard up on cash.we just moved 700miles.. thanks, Lori

Thanks...   what about mixing the oil into her food?  I've been putting supplements...  VitaGravy Feline SKIN & COAT w/omega fatty acids and vitamin E SKIN (pudding-like)... or powder call The Missing Link, balanced omega 3&6...  or soft chews called GNC SKIN & COAT ESSENTIALS w 3,6 &9 fatty acids, added nutrients for healthy skin, plus antioxidants.  The latter she tries to bury after I mix in the chews to her food.  But after about the 4th effort to serve her, she is hungry enough and will eat it.  Haven't been doing this one long enough know results yet.  I did use something similar, a different brand about 6 months ago.  This seemed to rid her of the bloody itchy bumps, but not the flakes. But could not find that brand at last search....  She has even more bumps now, though, than the first time around.

hi Laura, this is such a common problem for our kitties....I would strongly recommend you get some Krill Oil capsules, pierce one open put it on your finger and rub in on her gums..or at least get it into her mouth, Krill Oil is an excellent source of Omega 3 fatty acids and so good for their skin and coat..

also I would change from the friskies...this brand of food is very high in carbs, and carbs lead to the weight gain and skin issues too....Im glad you get the grain free dry, however it would be helpful to have them off all dry food and fed grain free wet only...
if they won't accept the grain free wet, than go with a brand that is in PATE form NO gravies...gravies are loaded with grains, such as potato starch to thicken
