You're really cute, Margy :) You're not daft or alone in talking to Tweety. I talk to Jade all the time and use several endearments when referring to her, all of which she responds to. I gotta tell you though, when I first met my husbands mom I was only 18. I was young and a different person and thought my MIL was strange for keeping up a constant stream of conversation with their golden retriever while she did housework on Saturdays.
Ha ha yes I am sure Tweety understands, do your cats meeow back at you, I have always talked to animals, I come from a line of animal chatterers, so I may say in the mornings, 'Hi Tweety are you hungry ' ,' she meeows, back am I daft or do any of you do the same .I also call her differant endearing names .LOL

I was thinking maybe that was why but I wasn't entirely for sure. She doesn't have any other reason to do it that I can't think of.

Goes to show our pet friends pick up on more English than we give them credit for. My same cat that does the clawing and biting thing when I guess I stop petting her too soon also swats at my legs and stuff when I walk by her and don't pet her or she just wants my attention.
My Tweety used to bite my ankles a lot but she's stopped it now, it was usually when she wanted me to let her out at night and I would'nt.. and if I said NO to her she would get worse , and I would have to run for it,.I am glad she stopped it,.never did it to the DH though maybe she realised he would yell blue murder at her ...
Hi Paranoid, Jade does this occasionally and I take it to mean she's not done with my petting her. She swipes at me telling me "don't go, you're not done yet, I need more loving!" :)
