Cat ate a rubberband

So my cat....the same one that ate a piece of carpet a few months back and got really sick....ate a rubberband tonight. I was told to giver her a tsp. of peroxide and that's what I did. However she never threw up. I was wondering if maybe someone else's cat may have had a similar situation. Things have come up and I don't have the money to take her to the vet, can anyone reassure me that she will be okay? Obviously if she becomes sick like that time I have to no choice but to take her to the vet.

Well lucky for us Twitch seems to be acting fine. Its been a few days and she is alright, still has her appetite and is still able to go to the bathroom. We haven't seen a rubber band yet but its possible it has passed already. Like I said we have 3 cats and they all cover their stuff after going to the bathroom.

well I don't always agree with Vets or Drs either for that matter, I prefer more holistic treatments whenever possible....
I really had never heard of that one before, and unfortunately it didn't give the results it was intended for.
I know its hard to tell who's poop is who's when you have multiple cats however when you are scooping out the box the rubber band should be quite visible tangled up in the poo, so keep watching for the next few days.
If he doesn't pass it, theres always the possibility of it becoming tangled up within the bowel so you would need to again consult a Vet with how to move forward.
You may need to put on gloves and dissect the stool to see if its broken up into small pieces therefore not as visible as a whole band would be....

you can also post this question to our Medhelp Vet and see what he says. just click on this link. good luck. keep us posted okay.

I was told by a vet to give her a tsp of peroxide to induce vomiting. Unfortunately she did not vomit....however she has been acting like herself and has not lost her appetite. So as of right now everything is okay. Honestly I haven't seen if she has pooped lately but I'm going to assume she has...its difficult to tell since we have 3 cats and 2 litter boxes.

give her peroxide?????? can I ask who on earth told you something like that??? NOOOOOO
give her a small amount of white petroleum jelly on her paw so she licks it off herself, do NOT put directly into her mouth.
it really should pass through her in a day or two, just watch for it..if it doesn't than take her to a vet.

Hi Opus you should know that 100% of pet doctors will harm a pet if they get the chance, before helping. Its why we come for knowledge to do it ourselves.
@LaMooky...That is not true.  Where on earth did you get this idea?  Vets are in the business to help not hurt.
