No worries....know u can use this forum just to chat too... : )
Thank you for the list, I will do that and keep you updated :)
I am glad u got info u needed.
While u wait to see DrO u may want ur local Drs to do more testing to do ...like a CINE MRI to check for a CSF obstruction, and over crowding, u want them to check for syrinx's in all areas of ur spine....review them for disk issues, tethered cord, ICP, POTS, ehlers-danlos....
Hang in there and know u r not alone, and we r here if u need us : )
Thank you, I live in Rogers, Arkansas and it is so hard to find someone who truly understands Chiari. I just found out that there is a specialists in Little Rock but Thanks to this forum I think I am going to wait and try to see if I can make a trip to see Dr. Oro instead. I have been reading so much here in these forums and feel just the same as everyone else but Thank you to everyone who has posted and shared, I now know that there is help out there.
Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.
We all react to meds differently, u may want to call ur Dr or pharmacist to see if the drowsy feeling is a typical issue and if they may have something else for u to try.
As I said, u can research Chiari on the internet and find it described as a rare condition, the only thing rare about Chiari is Drs that know how to treat it.
Once u find a chiari specialist u will see a huge difference in how well u r treated.
Hello,
I was just prescribed Gabapentin it makes me drowsy, I was supposed to up it to 2 last week on Thursday but I'm scared that I won't be able to get up for work if I up it on a week day. I was also told that my migranes and numbness on my right side of my face, arm, hand and leg don't have anything to do with my Chiari. :( It is so frustrating when you know that all your symptoms have to do with that but every neurological and neurosurgeon say it has nothing to do with it. My mri says "note is made of inferior descent of the cerebellar tonsils through the foramen magnum approximately 8mm, consistent with Chiari I Malformation".
Didn't they give u a written RX?...can't u still get it filled?
Sorry that happened...try a warm soak in the tub...relax as that always helped me when I have HA's or ne joint pains....
Thxs Selma! Good to know. Went to pick up the script and it was never called in...ugh! Same old story! Guess I'll have to just take tylenol as usual!
Hi...yes I did, it is the generic for Neurontin....I have IBS issues and it did make mine worse and nothing else for me so I stopped taking it...I have heard others that it helped for a limited time....we r all different, so it may give u some relief....u never know until u try.
I would suggest if u have IBS issues, to make sure u take some thing to keep going....just in case.....
Thxs you guys! I've noticed how thwart weather affects me to. Well went to the neurologists today ....exactly what I thought! I spent more time waiting to see him than what he spent with me! It was all hurry hurry quick quick!! He said it's no big deal about the Chiari. But here's some pills for your migraine! Huh!! Anyone ever take Gabapentin?
Hi...so sorry u r feeling so poorly....the weather is deff playing a role in how many of us feel...blame Sandy....ugh...
For me, the colder I am, the more I hurt...so a heating pad is helpful...or a soak in a warm tub......
Hope u r feeling better soon.
I can so relate to what your feeling! That is the exact symtoms that I have, except that my hands swell up and the skin rips open on my fingers and hands. I'm not sure what you respond to, but I usually live on heat packs to take the edge off...some people prefer ice packs. Weather plays a role in my symptoms as well.
May I ask what you have been Dx with?
