Well for me along with Chiari I also have been dx'd with EDS...yrs ago when I had the muscle spasms they most likely were due in part to this dx as it also was responsible for my GERD and IBS issues...bcuz of the GERD I did not absorb vitamins and minerals the way I should and my body responded with the spasms.
Low levels of Vit D, B12 , magnesium and potassium can affect us....so always get ur levels checked.
Many times there is more then 1 thing going on to cause some of the issues we have. It can be a combo of mal absorption of vitamins, it can be nerves being compressed....so we have to look at all the pics and connect them .
The popping feeling u get does it feel like it is popping or just sound like it?
If u feel it as well, u may have an issue with ur joints being hyper mobile, so do get checked for EDS or JHS.
I wanted to let you know I had this also. It's very scary. I'm glad to hear your getting it checked out just to be safe. I know this was really scary for me. I would find myself dreaming and wake up and I felt like I ran a marathone. Let us know what the Cardio has to say. Hoping it is Chairi, but having it checked out will make you more at ease.
Best of luck.
Linda :)
I also had weird muscle twitches for years before. I always just assumed it was from all the running I did ( I ran 10 marathons before ever being diagnosed...how does that happen????)
Even now, I get weird "popping" feelings in my back sometimes. Anyone get that?
I have heart palpitation too. It's good to go see a cardiologist. Myself I need a surgery to the heart to help with the palpitation. Everyone is different.
Hi, yes, as geebug mentioned it is always best to have things tested and know for sure, as chiari can affect all parts of our body, but some of the related conditions can affect the heart too, so it is best to see a cardio.
I also had heart palps and saw one just to rule things out....since surgery no more palps : )
Also the muscle spasms, I had them for yrs b4 my dx and even had them for a while post op....deff chiari/EDS in my case....I still get the random one so I feel it is from my EDS dx .
This is y it is good to know what all is going on b4, as it can also help with recovery.....so get tests done now.
I'm pretty sure Chiari can cause both of those things. Of course, it's always better to be safe than sorry, and just because you have Chiari doesn't mean there couldn't be something going on with your heart as well. I think you should get anything that's worrying you checked out, if for nothing other than your own peace of mind.
